When Marcelo Castro Alves was 17 years old, he came to United States as an exchange student for 6 months. He went to Oakland Mills High School in Columbia, Maryland and played soccer for a local team named Columbia Rovers. The team made a trip to the UK on a British tour to compete against other teams in the area. The Columbia Rovers Soccer team was watched by the Lord Mayor of Norwich, Jill Miler.
